S/V Elara is a 1994 Catalina 30 mk III
With over 6000 built, and inducted into the hall of fame in 2001, the Catalina 30 is one of the most popular sailboats of all time. Surprisingly it was not really on our shortlist when we started seriously boat shopping in the fall of 2014. We saw her advertised on sailboatlistings.com and she looked like a pretty, well-kept little boat. We really liked the surprisingly large galley for a 30 footer, and the walk through transom (which has now become a requirement on any future boats!)
Elara was actually the very first boat we looked at in our search, and even after looking at a number of other vessels we came back to her in the end.
Celebrating after we sailed her safely back from the Chesapeake to our home port of Philadelphia!
